Chicago Manual of Style

Chicago Manual of Style is used in the humanities, especially history.

Format

Chicago Style (sometimes referred to as its modified form: Turabian) has two different and distinct citation styles:

  • The Humanities use the bibliography & notes style
  • The Scientific and Social Science communities use a Reference list & author-date in-text citations

The manual and quick guides below are for the 16th edition of Chicago Style. The 17th edition was released in 2017. Stay tuned while we update our quick guides and purchase the 17th edition of the manual.
