Chicago Manual of Style is used in the humanities, especially history. Chicago Style has two different and distinct citation styles: notes and bibliography (used by humanities fields and history in particular), and author-date (used in science and social science fields).
The 17th edition of CMS was released in 2017. Quick Guides for the 17th edition below are available for both Notes & Bibliography and Author-Date citations.
